ABOUT EIRIK SMIDESANG SLÅEN
Eirik Smidesang Slåen graduated from Éicar in Paris in 2006 with a Master’s degree in directing and film production, earning two bachelor’s degrees in literature, film and art history previously back in Norway. The following years he wrote and directed several short films, curated festivals, wrote on cinema and did major marketing campaigns for both Norwegian and international films, theatre plays and more.
In 2015 he was asked to come onboard as co-producer on his first feature; Welcome to Norway directed by award winning director Rune Denstad Langlo. A few months later, he was asked to join the process of bringing the beloved In The Forest of Huckybucky to the screen at Qvisten Animation, soon becoming one of the film's producers. The stop motion film was a huge success in Nordic cinemas winter 2016/2017, also gaining international recognition at prestigious festivals such as Annecy, Shanghai and Giffoni. The success meant Eirik could start focusing full time as a producer, and in fall 2019 later he released his second animated blockbuster, the 3D animated Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond also at Qvisten. A few months later, he established production company Imaginær Film with producer colleague Elisabeth Opdal.
